Rabbi Aaron Alexander is the Associate Dean of the Ziegler School and Lecturer in Rabbinics and Jewish Law. He is a certified mashgiach (kosher supervisor) by the Conservative Movement's Rav Hamachshir program and currently serves on its Committee for Jewish Law and Standards (CJLS). Rabbi Alexander recently introduced to the Ziegler School its newest area of concentration for senior students, Halakhah, redefining the way in which passionate Conservative Rabbis can approach modern Judaism utilizing a breadth and depth in Jewish Law.

Rabbi Alexander created and maintains the Ziegler School's robust web-learning presence, attracting thousands of Jews from around the world in conversation and study at www.zieglertorah.org and its popular and growing Facebook page

Rabbi Alexander also teaches Talmud and Rabbinical Literature throughout Los Angeles to students of all ages and all walks of life, including a regular classes at IKAR and Temple Aliyah. He serves on the Clergy Caucus for LA VOICE - PICO, a national organizing network of diverse Faith-Based congregations.
Rabbi Alexander spends his summers as Rabbi-in-Residence at Camp Ramah in California along with his spouse, Rabbi Penina Podwol Alexander, and their energetic son, Ariel. He was also a founding staff member at Camp Ramah Darom in 1997, where he worked 10 summers and served on the Board of Directors. Rabbi Alexander currently serves on its Committee for Jewish Law and Standards (CJLS), the first ordinand of the Ziegler School to serve on this Movement committee.


Rabbi Alexander is published widely, including the "Walking With..." series with a fresh article on the Jewish view of 'Singlehood' as well as an article on Shabbat (co-authored with Rabbi Sharon Brous). He is also regular contributor to the Huffington Post  and the Sh'ma Online Journal,commenting starkly on current social issues through the lens of Torah. Rabbi Alexander also contributed traditional text chapters to the first three editions of the JPS series, "Jewish Choices, Jewish Voices."
