Training for the rabbinate is more than a matter of intellectual growth and development. Rabbinic education involves formation of the student’s theological perspective, interpersonal skills, religious and spiritual orientation and much more. For that reason, regular interaction with faculty and other students is a particularly critical dimension of the Ziegler experience. Ziegler students are expected to attend all scheduled meetings of every class for which they are registered. While individual instructors may communicate their attendance requirements as part of their syllabus, the absence of such communications should not be construed as the absence of an attendance requirement. In cases of special hardship, a student may petition the Dean or Assistant Dean of the Ziegler School for suspension of the attendance requirement or permission to withdraw without penalty.
