The University has a Nurse Based Student Health Center, located on the Familian Campus, available to ALL full- and part-time students.  The Student Health Center provides health assessments, needed immunizations, TB testing, over the counter medication, health education and physician referrals.

The Health Center is staffed Monday through Thursday. After hours care is available through Peak Health Medical Group, a private physicians group or urgent care. The Student Health Center operates on a limited basis during holiday weeks, campus vacation breaks and during the summer session.

All students attending American Jewish University are charged a Student Health Fee.  This fee covers the cost of running the Student Health Center on the Familian Campus and the psychological services provided by the University.  The health fee is NOT health insurance.

Health insurance is required for all matriculating students- both undergraduate and graduate.  Students can present proof of coverage with a signed waiver or purchase the university health plan through the Office of the Assistant to the Dean.  Students with incomplete paperwork will be automatically enrolled in the university health plan and billed accordingly (Fall Semester – September 28, 2010; Spring Semester – February 4, 2011).  Waiver showing proof of coverage must be renewed in the Fall Semester of each academic year.

Having your health records complete with the Student Health Center may save you from unnecessary headaches and running around during your time here at AJU.  Students that intend to accept internships, work in a hospital or school or possibly study abroad may need to provide these agencies with health information.  A complete health record with the Student Health Center may make this process much simpler.

Inquiries about health insurance should be directed to the Dean of Student Affairs - Student Activities, Sarah Cohen at scohen@aju.edu, or X464.
Inquiries about health history and/or immunizations should be directed to the nurse: Nurse@aju.edu, or 310-476-9777 x219.
